Pop Up Art House

April 18, 2014

Pop Up Art House is a feministic art festival at Diana Stage in Helsinki. We move in and out two times a year and create an open living room that will be torn down afterwards.  Pop Up Art House includes an art exhibition, theater and music performances, workshops and other events. Each period has a specific theme, in April–May 2014 it is COMMUNICATION, and all of the activity in the space will relate to this theme.  The concept will be realized during 2013-2015, by Blaue Frau, Ágnes Kaszás and the Artistic Team, which I am a member of.

Lanterns made of clothes and bamboo skewers, and Big Bling, a large kinetic wall made of rescue blankets, are my contributions to the exhibition. Welcome to the exhibition and other events during the next four weeks, until 17th May! Have a look at the program here.

Living Room Exhibition

April 7, 2014

Living Room Exhibition was organized in March 2014 in Helsinki. For two days contemporary art from different countries was exhibited in private apartments. Bedrooms, kitchen, cellars, fridges, living rooms, bathrooms, restrooms and elevators were filled with art. A new version of my installation Déjà Vu was located in a lobby of a shared flat in the city center.

Déjà Vu in “New Move” Design Calendar 2014

January 6, 2014

Happy New Year! My work Déjà Vu has been published in EIGA Trend Diary “New Move”. For 8 years the EIGA design calendar has featured current design trends. Its 2014 edition is dedicated to the theme of motion and velocity. It portrays artistic as well as commercial designs dealing with abstract and concrete motion effects.

Seven Deadly Sins

December 12, 2013

Kurt Weill´s and Bertolt Brecht´s Seven Deadly Sins was the result of a two-year project in Finnish Academy of Fine Arts. The aim of our experimental music theater was to examine how the roles of different forms of art could be renewed in opera production, and to have the emphasis on visual arts through the whole project development.

As a result of a competition in winter 2012-13, mine and Elina Vainio´s spatial concept was chosen, together with Monika Czyzyk´s and Diana Soria Hernandez´s directing idea, to be developed further with the whole group. The performance was designed for the huge 4500 square meters warehouse space in Jätkäsaari Bunker. We had there eight sold-out performances in September 2013.
